My art is about the feeling and emotion found in the landscape.
It is influenced by the wild coastline, severe weather, and most of all by the dynamic geological movement that is locked within the rocks of West Cornwall.
The twisted curvaceous strata within and the overall roughness of the stone is an important part of its character that has developed over millennia. It is this that forms the basis of my ideas. I seek to take this journey onward. Unlocking the stories and shapes held within.
Through a process of reciprocity, each cut or strike of the chisel is carefully considered whilst exploring the inner character of each unique piece of art. Often removing a large percentage of the original stone to reveal a sensitive, delicate, and curvaceous form.
